UPDATE:

The Hollis Parks Project meets fundraising goals!!!

In just over three months, the Hollis Parks Project has exceeded its initial fundraising goal of $40,000, triggering a $10,000 allocation from the Town of Hollis, bringing the total raised to improve the town’s public parks to $50,000. Excess funds received will allow further improvements, landscaping, and future maintenance of both Little Nichols Park and Nichols Field.  To achieve these goals, the Hollis Parks Committee has sold over 150 fundraising bricks, and received many major donations from generous Hollis citizens and businesses.

Over half the funds were raised in the month of July, when Arthur Lyford and Sophie Howarth Lyford (of the Art of Dentistry in Hollis) presented the “Nichols Challenge” and matched every dollar raised by 20%. The group is now meeting with local landscapers Brewer Landscaping and Custom View Property Maintenance, who are donating in-kind services, to implement the improvement plans.

The Hollis Parks Project will accept personalized brick orders until August 15th, which can be ordered at www.HollisPlays.org. Donations can still be made by sending a check (made payable to the “Town of Hollis”)  and mail to Hollis Parks Project PO Box 106 Hollis NH 03049.

The group will be coordinating with the Hollis Recreation Commission for fall installation dates. Volunteers and supporters of the project can also look out for dates to help “community build” the playground this fall, or email hollisparksproject@gmail.com to find out more and get involved as the Parks Project prepares to break ground.

The Hollis Parks Project

The Hollis Parks Project is a grassroots effort to build a new playground at Nichols Field and to enhance Little Nichols Park (by Hollis Social library) with new playground equipment, seating, landscaping, and other outdoor recreation items that will benefit the Hollis community.

Supporters may purchase a personalized brick that will be laid in the patio at Little Nichols Field. Other opportunities for support include joining the Nichols Leadership Circle (a major gifts society dedicated to supporting Hollis Parks and Open Spaces), volunteering to help raise funds or work with supportive local businesses.
